Here’s what’s worth knowing: dermatology researchers have repeatedly found skin tags — especially several of them, around the neck and skin folds — showing up more often in people with elevated insulin levels. The same is true of soft, darker, velvety patches of skin in those areas. Skin cells respond to insulin, and when there’s chronically more of it circulating than there should be, skin in friction areas can respond by growing more.
